Lev Gutman

Lev Gutman ( born September 26, 1945 in Riga, Soviet Union ) is a German grandmaster in chess opening theoretician and Latvian origin.

Life

Lev Gutman in 1972 individual champion of Latvia. FIDE awarded him in 1986 the title of chess grandmaster.

In 1980 he emigrated from the USSR to Israel and played at the Chess Olympiads in 1982 in Lucerne and 1984 in Thessaloniki for the Israeli team on the third board.

He has participated in numerous open tournaments, such as the 1982 2nd International Chess Tournament in Linz ( Austria ). In 1986, he was with Viktor Korchnoi co-winner in the major tournament of Lugano, making it his final norm for the Grandmaster title earned. He often played chess festival Bad Wörishofen and finished in the years 1994, 1998 and 2000 second place.

Gutman distinguished himself as a book author, mainly in the field of opening theory, self-published.

Gutman lives in Germany and played for the chess club SC Melle 03 ( Lower Saxony), then for the SV Lingen. He also plays in the Belgian and French team championship. From 1990 to 1993, he was four times in a row, German chess master.
