Lev Perovski

Count Lev Alekseevich of Perovsky (Russian Лев Алексеевич Перовский, transcribed as Perofsky, Perovskii, Perovskiy, Perovsky and Perowsky, is also cited as LA Perovski; * September 9, 1792, † November 21, 1856 ) was a Russian nobleman and mineralogist. Under Tsar Nicholas I. He was on 23 September 1841 to August 30, 1852 Minister of the Interior.

In 1845 he proposed the creation of the Russian Geographical Society.

The mineral perovskite was named after him and the plant genus Perovskia after his brother Vasily (Governor of Orenburg )
