Lev Russov
Lev Alexandrovich Russow (Russian Лев Александрович Русов, scientific transliteration Leo Alexandrovich Russow, born January 31, 1926 in Leningrad † 20 February 1987 in Leningrad, USSR ) was a Soviet- Russian painter and member of the Leningrad Union of Artists, one of the most important representatives of the Leningrad school of painting.
Career
The parents of Lev Alexandrovich Russow were employees. In 1947 he graduated from the Leningrad Art College, 1948, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts, but left it after because of illness after two years. Since 1954, he participated in exhibitions of Leningrad artists. In addition he painted etchings spätimpressionistische portraits, landscapes, genre scenes, still life in oil and as watercolors. In 1955 he was admitted to the Leningrad Artists' Association.
Lev Alexandrovich Russow died on 20 February 1987 at Leningrad. The paintings Russows hang in art museums and in numerous private collections in Russia, USA, Finland, France, Japan and other countries.
