Levana

Levana (from the Latin levare " cancel " ) was in Roman mythology, the goddess of protection of the newborn.

The name is to take literally, as in ancient Rome, the father of a newborn was placed at his feet when he was not sure whether the child was really from him. Hob the man on the child, he recognized the paternity of formal. Therefore, the goddess Levana was wooed by the mothers, so that her husband would lead through the ritual of levare.
