Levanto, Liguria

Levanto is a municipality with 5511 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of La Spezia in the Italian region of Liguria.

Location

Born out of an ancient settlement Levanto is nestled in a small valley, whose slopes are covered with olive and pine trees. The community is located directly on the Ligurian Sea and has a short beach. The ridges of the valley close directly from the coast, where they form the promontory of Mesco and Punta di Levanto.

Levanto is one of the Comunità Montana della Riviera Spezzina. The territory of the municipality forms a portion of the Cinque Terre National Park.
