Levator anguli oris

The levator anguli oris ( " corner of the mouth lift " ) - also called musculus caninus - is a skin muscle of the head. The muscle arises in the canine fossa of the maxilla and shines in the corners of the mouth, where intermingle with those of its muscle fibers of the musculus zygomaticus, depressor anguli oris and orbicularis oris. The muscle is part of the facial muscles and pulls the corners of the mouth upward. It is innervated by the facial nerve.
