Leven H. Ellis

Leven Handy Ellis ( born April 6, 1881 in Nixburg, Coosa County, Alabama; † January 4, 1968 ) was an American politician.

Ellis studied at the University of Alabama, where he received his Bachelor of Laws in 1909. Then he began to practice in Columbiana. 1927 and 1931 he was a senator in the Senate from Alabama, from 1936 to 1943 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Alabama. In addition, Ellis has held for two terms the office of Mayor of Columbiana and in 1940 a delegate to the Democratic National Convention. From 1943 to 1947 he was vice- governor of Alabama under Governor Chauncey Sparks.

Ellis was married since September 30, 1908 and had five children.
