Levy Barent Cohen

Levy Barent Cohen ( * 1740 in Amsterdam, † 1808 in England ) was an English financier and Jewish communal workers (Jewish communal worker ).

The son of the wealthy Amsterdam merchant Barent Cohen went with his brother to England and built until 1778 in London a great deal on. In 1798 he was naturalized and eventually became known as one of the leading merchants of the city. He founded several businesses and the Jewish hospital.

He was married twice. He was connected with almost all the leading Jewish families in England by his children. Hannah married Nathan Mayer Rothschild, Judith Moses Montefiore, Jessy 1816 Meyer Davidson (* around 1785 in Germany; Rothschilds first agent ) and the other in the families Goldsmid, Samuel and Lucas.
