Lewes (District)

Lewes is a District in the county of East Sussex in England. It is named after the administrative center of Lewes. Other important towns are Barcombe, Ditchling, Falmer, Newhaven, Newick, Peacehaven, Ringmer and Seaford.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Borough Lewes, Newhaven and Seaford Urban District and the Rural District Chailey.
