Lewis County (Kentucky)

Lewis County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Vanceburg, named after its founder Joseph Calvin Vance.

Geography

The County is located in northeastern Kentucky, bordering the state of Ohio, separated by the Ohio River and has an area of ​​1284 square kilometers, of which 29 square kilometers are water surface. History

Lewis County was formed on December 2, 1806 from parts of Mason County. It was named after Meriwether Lewis, an American explorers, soldiers and administrative officials.
