Lewis J. Rachmil

Lewis J. Rachmil ( born July 3, 1908 in New York City, New York, † 19 February 1984 in Beverly Hills, California ) was an American art director, production designer and film producer who at the Academy Awards in 1941 for an Oscar for the best Production Design was nominated.

Life

Rachmil began his career as an art director and production designer in the film industry in Hollywood in 1934 with the film Tres Amores and worked until his death at the scenic features of almost sixty films.

For the scene in Our Town (1940 ), a film adaptation of the play by Thornton Wilder, directed by Sam Wood with William Holden, Martha Scott and Frank Craven, he was nominated for the Academy Awards in 1941 for the Academy Award for Best Production Design.

After 1941 Rachmil was then primarily worked as a production manager and producer and was involved as such in the production of nearly ninety films.
