Lewisburg is located off I - 70, a village in Preble County in the U.S. state of Ohio, about 30 km west of Dayton. The town has 1,800 inhabitants (as of 2000 census ).

History

Lewisburg in 1818 west of the parceled by Henry Horn Twin Creek ( a small river ). Before the construction of the National Road from Cumberland ( Maryland ) to Vandalia (Illinois ) 1811-1839 Lewisburg had no connection to the rail or overland road network. When the National Road Lewisburg reached and passed north, John Muma founded the place Euphemia right on the street. The two towns grew up together, and were united in 1916 under the name of Lewisburg.

Monument

In Lewisburg two covered bridges ( engl: covered bridge ) were added to the National Register of Historic Places ( NRHP), and are thus protected monument. Both bridges were built ( after the inventor Horace Childs ) end of the 19th century by Evrett S. Sherman ( 1831-1897 ) in the framework construction Childs ' Truss, whose patent had expired. Built by Sherman bridges are the only bridges in the U.S. that were built according to this design. The truss of the bridge consists of a wooden frame construction is reinforced with diagonal iron tie rods and wooden struts.
