Lex Saxonum

The Lex Saxonum ( Law of Saxony) is one of the Germanic tribal rights and was adopted in 802 by Charlemagne to mitigate the severe measures taken by him to be subjected to the Saxons in the year 785. The Lex Saxonum was to some extent a compromise, in which Frankish kingdom law and traditional Saxon tribal rights supplemented.
