Lexi Alexander

Lexi Alexander ( born August 23, 1974 in Mannheim ) is a German film director and martial artist.

Life

Alexander began in her childhood karate training and kickboxing. She walked at the age of 19 years to Hollywood and worked as a stunt woman. She completed a drama and studied directing at the Piero Dusa Conservatory and UCLA. In 2002, the short film Johnny Flynton, which was in 2003 nominated for an Oscar in the category " Best Short Film " was born.

The subject of their first feature-length film hooligans comes from her childhood. Her brother had taken them to soccer games of the SV Waldhof, where she learned a lot about the football fan scene. Her brother was a violent fan of this team and organized in a hooligan group. Inspired by these experiences, she worked with former hooligan Dougie Brimson on the screenplay of the film Hooligans starring Elijah Wood, which she also directed himself.

End of 2008, directed by Alexander in the comic book adaptation Punisher: War Zone with Ray Stevenson as the Punisher. Alexander himself described the genesis of detail in a series of podcasts How Did This Get Made in 2011. According to his own statement she was two years looking for a suitable script for her Hollywood debut film and felt finally by their agents to the director's chair of the third Punisher film adaptation crowded. This persuaded them by pointing out that in addition to Kathryn Bigelow would be no successful female directors of action films and it could pave the way for other young directors.
