Lexicon recentis Latinitatis

The Lexicon Recentis Latinitatis ( German: Encyclopedia of modern Latin) is a list issued by the foundation " Latinitas " on behalf of the Vatican Latin dictionary.

The dictionary that contains over 15,000 words in its edition of today's Italian language use in a Latin translation, was published in seven years of work by 14 Latin experts under the leadership of the Vatican theologian Karl Egger. His sense is, inter alia, to hold an official language of the Vatican, Latin, with the other Italian, on the same date. This is to ensure that modern social, political, religious and other problems can be described correctly. Often the neoplasms of the lexicon, which did not occur without a certain humor, borrowing from ancient Greek or Italian, often they are also less vocabulary in real sense as something complicated descriptions of the intended meaning, which of course is not there in ancient times still gave. Requirements and arrangements

The dictionary is 1992/97 in a two -volume edition with translation into Italian appeared in " Libreria Editrice Vaticana " (ISBN 88-209-2239-8 88-209-1731-9/ISBN ). An expanded new edition was published in 2003 again with " Libreria Editrice Vaticana " (ISBN 88-209-7454-1 ).

Published in 1998 based on an Italian edition of the German working under the title "New Latin Dictionary " (ISBN 3-93307-001-5, Edition Lempertz, Bonn ) and ( identical text ) " PONS dictionary of the new Latin " (ISBN 3 - 12-517522-4 ).
