Leyland-DAB articulated bus

Leyland -DAB produced in Denmark between 1979 and 1985 an articulated bus with underfloor diesel engine in the front and steered trailer. The Leyland -DAB in the version for left-hand traffic was the first modern articulated bus, which was available in the United Kingdom. The British manufacturer Leyland Motors since 1953 collaborated with the Danish manufacturer Dansk Automobil Construction Association ( DAB). DAB used Leyland parts in your own bus models. As a continental manufacturer Leyland developed with DAB his own articulated model as an alternative to the model of Volvo. The Leyland -DAB was prepared in two body styles.

The first models, which appeared in 1979, used a Saurer 240 - horsepower diesel engine and an automatic Allison, while the body on the Leyland National based. The axles and steering were also of Leyland. The delivered from 1985 models had all the technology of Leyland, the body was built by DAB. They came mostly in Denmark used. 1985 SYPTE in the UK bought 13 copies.

The privatization of the former British Leyland Motor Corporation, the bus division of Leyland was sold to Volvo, whereby the production of the Leyland -DAB was not continued in 1986.
