Lezay is a commune in the Deux- Sèvres in the Poitou-Charentes region with an area of 4563 acres and 2076 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ). Lezay is the capital of the canton of the same name.

Geographical Location
Lezay is located about 380 km south of Paris and 120 km to the east of (La Rochelle ) near the zero meridian. The altitude is 124 m.
History
The place was first mentioned in the 11th century and was originally a fief of the Lusignan.

Structures
Worth seeing is the ruined castle (12th century), which served as a quarry for procurement of material for the construction of the Château du Marais (18th century) in the 18th century, as well as the Château de Grandehamp ( 17th century).
Economy and infrastructure
Main sources of income are agriculture and cattle breeding, the production of cheese and, to a lesser extent, tourism. Are offered as well as camping holidays and Camping on the farm. Attraction of holidaymakers is the stud farm Haras de la Dive.
