LFLS Kaunas

Lietuvos Fiziono Lavinimosi Sajunga ( LFLS ) Kaunas was the first Lithuanian football club. He was based in Kaunas, which was provisional capital of Lithuania in the interwar period.

History

The impetus for LFLS - creation, and thus the introduction of football in Lithuania, had some after the First World War returned Lithuanians along with some foreigners in 1920 - mainly immigrant German Empire - given. The first football team in 1920 consisted of four Lithuanians, four Germans and one each Serbs, Jews and Englishmen.

This multicultural club dominated in the early days of the Lithuanian football and won the first two played out championship titles in 1922 and 1923. Later came the championships in 1927, 1932 and 1942 added. The last titles issued after the Soviet invasion and the subsequent incorporation into the Soviet Union only a Regional Championship dar. Besides football, athletics and tennis at LFLS mainly operated. The Athletics took place in Vyautaspark held in Kaunas, where the park paths were used as raceways. Here even the first Lithuanian Athletics Championships were held.
