The airport Lhasa Gongga (拉萨贡嘎 机场) is the airport of Lhasa in Tibet. It is located near the main town of Gongga county, which is about 45 kilometers south of Lhasa.

Transport links

The previous, very mountainous road to the airport was 100 kilometers long, so $ a 51 km link was built for around U.S. $ 175 million. Thus, the travel time of the bus to Lhasa has been reduced from one and a half hours to less than half.

Infrastructure

The airport had one next to the main runway around 250 meters shorter parallel runway, which is today but used only as a taxiway. There are two platforms and a terminal with a size of about 10,000 square meters, which is sufficient for about 600 passengers. After modernization measures have four gates of the passenger boarding bridges. For travelers who want to reach the first flights in the morning, there is the possibility to stay right near the airport.

Flights

There are flight connections with the Chinese cities of Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Xi'an, Guangzhou, Chongqing and Shangri- La ( Zhongdian earlier ) as well as with the Nepalese capital Kathmandu.
