Li Duan

Li Duan (Chinese李端, Pinyin Li Duan, born June 1, 1978 in Jilin ) is a Chinese athlete who competes in the long jump, triple jump and javelin. He suffers from impaired vision and therefore starts in disabled sports in the classification group F11, the F for the English name field ( en.: field) stands.

He lives with his wife and their son Qi Yanying_s Xinin currently in Shenyang. His disability is due to an accident in 1996. Then he wanted to replace an expired fire extinguisher exploded in front of him. Duan was then 15 days in a coma, then had to be surgically removed his right eye; on the left eye he lost the vision.

Sports career

Li may have numerous successes at the Paralympics and World Championships in Athletics. He fought for example, equal in his first participation in Summer Paralympics in Sydney in 2000, a silver and a bronze medal in the triple and long jump. In addition, he reached the seventh place in the javelin. Four years later in Athens he scored the victory -double, as he triumphed in both jumping events. In the javelin, he could also be improved to fourth place. After defending both titles he had succeeded in Beijing in 2008, he traveled to the Summer Paralympics in London in 2012 in the hope of a gold medal. There, Li, however, had to settle for second and third place.

The Para- Asian Games 2010 in Guangzhou Li put on behalf of all athletes from the oath.
