Li Nina

Li Nina (Chinese李妮娜, Pinyin lǐ Nina; born January 10, 1983 in Benxi, Liaoning ) is a Chinese freestyle skier. She specializes in the discipline Aerials ( jumping). As a three time world champion, two-time winner of the overall World Cup and three-time winner of the World Cup discipline rating it among the most successful athletes ever.

Biography

On January 20, 2001 Li debuted in freestyle skiing World Cup and reached the 15th place in Whistler. Your first podium it achieved on September 8, 2001, when second in the Australian Mount Buller. In the 2001 /02 season was followed by another podium place and fifth place at the Olympic Winter Games 2002. Li finally established himself among the world leaders and reached in the 2002/03 season four times a podium finish. After three more podium finishes in the season 2003/ 04 she succeeded on 28 February 2004 in Spindleruv Mlyn the first World Cup victory.

The 2004/05 season dominated Li almost at will. She won six out of twelve discharged World Cup competitions and was further five times on the podium. Not only do they decided to consider the Aerials - discipline rating for themselves, but also the overall World Cup. In the final World Championship 2005 in Ruka, she sat down almost against the Swiss Evelyne Leu and won the gold medal. Another three World Cup victories were added in the 2005/06 season. At the season's peak, the 2006 Winter Olympics, she won the silver medal behind Leu.

As in the previous season did not take Li 2006/ 07 on all World Cup competition part, but their five appearances, she won two times and scored three more podium finishes. In addition, she won the gold medal at the Asian Winter Games in 2007 in Changchun. At the 2007 World Championships in Madonna di Campiglio she could even defend the world title successfully the first runner. In the 2007 /08 season, a win and three additional podiums were to book.

After a somewhat slow start at the beginning of the season 2008 /09, Li was able to increase and won a World Cup competition. When discharged in Harbin Universiade she was also the best jumper, but took part in this competition only five athletes. Two weeks later she was able to win for the third time in a row, the gold medal at the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro. With two wins and three additional podium finishes Li decided in the season 2009/10, both the discipline rating as well as the World Cup itself. It was considered a favorite for the Olympic gold medal, but the Australian Lydia Lassila had to admit defeat and be content with the silver medal in Cypress Mountain in Vancouver.

Li then made a two -year break from competition. She returned back to the World Cup 2013 and established himself once again at the top. With two wins and a further podium it secured in the 2013/14 season for the third time the discipline standings, while in fourth narrowly missed a medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
