Lia Fáil

The Stone of Fal ( Lia Fáil gäl. ) is, among other symbols, according to the legend the coronation stone of the high kings of Ireland. His power was that the stone allegedly screamed when a true king sat on him. He was allegedly in the exact center of Ireland, in truth in Tara, in the territory of the Southern Ui Néill ( O'Neill ) to the 12th century.

Mythology

The legend in the Lebor ( "The Book of the Conquest of Ireland " ) by Lia Fáil was brought by the Tuatha Dé Danann in Ireland. The stone was said to be hard as diamond and came from the city Falias in the north, one of the four mythical cities of the Tuatha De Danann.

According to another version the stone of Simon Brec, a member of the group to Partholon, from Spain was brought to Ireland. Even in Spain, he already served the same purpose.

His whereabouts there are several stories. In Ireland, it is said that the coronation stone at Tara is the true Stone of Fal next to St. Patrick's statue. According to Scottish sources, the ball was on winding paths to Scotland and is identical to the " Stone of Scone ", which was launched in 1296 by Edward I. to London, where he is the symbol of the unity of England and Scotland under the coronation throne in Westminster Abbey was the British monarch until it was returned to Scotland in 1996.
