Liahona (Book of Mormon)

The Liahona is a separate concept from the Gospel teachings of the Mormons. He is the Book of Mormon refers to as a guide, which finds use as a compass. The term Mormon is a neologism that is largely unknown outside of Mormonism.

Lehi, one of the few men who should have listened to the prophecies of Nehemiah - he had warned the people to Jerusalem before the Babylonian exile - is to have fled with his family, and even a second in the wilderness at God's command. God had promised them, to lead them in a chosen country and have given them to the Liahona: " And it came to pass that as my father arose in the morning and went to the door of the tent, he saw to his great astonishment on earth a ball of curious workmanship; and it was of fine brass. And within the ball were two spindles; and their one pointed the way whither we should go into the wilderness "(1 Nephi 16:10).

Even with temporary difficulties on the way to the promised land them to the Liahona have been a help: Once when they complained about having no more weapons to be animals succumbed as food can, they would have changed the inscription on the Liahona found.

26 " And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord said unto him: Look at the ball and see what is written there. 27 And it came to pass that when my father beheld the things which were written upon the ball, he did fear and tremble exceedingly, and also my brethren and the sons of Ishmael and our wives. 28 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the pointers which were in the ball, that they did work according to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto them. 29 And there was also written a new writing, which was plain to be read, which made us understand the ways of the Lord was upon them; and it was written and changed according to the faith and zeal, which we gave from time to time. And so we see that the Lord may bring through small Medium access roads. 30 And it came to pass; I, Nephi, went up to the summit of the mountain, according to the instructions that were given upon the ball. 31 And it came to pass; I did slay wild beasts, so that I did obtain food for our families "(1 Ne 16: 26 - 31).

After this the church Liahona magazine of the Church of Jesus Christ, it was then named the Latter-day Saints.
