Liam Twomey

Liam Twomey (Irish Liam Ó Tuama * April 3, 1967 in Clonakilty, County Cork) is an Irish politician.

Twomey attended Trinity College in Dublin and studied medicine. He worked until 2002 as a GP ( general practitioner ) and was Chairman of the Wexford branch of the Irish Medical Organisation. He was elected as an Independent in the Dáil Éireann in 2002. As a Teachta Dala he campaigned especially for health issues and was against a reduction of the hospitals.

On 22 September 2004 Twomey joined the Fine Gael. However, not managed to defend his seat in the 2007 elections. Instead, Twomey was elected for Fine Gael Seanad Éireann in the 23th. In 2011 he was re-elected as an MP in the Dáil.

Twomey is married and has three children.
