Liana Alexandra

Liana Alexandra ( born May 27, 1947 in Bucharest, † January 10, 2011 ibid ) was a Romanian composer and music educator.

Life

Alexandra studied from 1965 to 1971 at the Bucharest Conservatory Porumbescu Ciprian Tudor Ciortea morphology in Emilia Comişel Ethnomusicology and Tiberiu Olah composition. She received a merit scholarship and attended Enescu 1974, 1978, 1980 and 1984, the Darmstadt Summer Courses.

From 1972 she taught of instruments, from 1980 also composition, orchestration and musical analysis at the University of Music in Bucharest. With her husband Şerban Nichifor they formed the Duo Intermedia and initiated the Nuova Musica Consonante -Living Music Foundation Festival. For her compositions, she received five times prices of the Romanian composers and Musikologenverbandes. In 1979 she won the first prize at the Carl Maria von Weber Competition in Dresden, besides, she was a participant in the 1979 and 1980 composition competition of the Gaudeamus Foundation, in which, in this time, no prize was awarded.
