Liber Historiae Francorum

Liber Historiae Francorum ( LHF ) is a spätmerowingische chronicle, which was formerly known as the Gesta Francorum. It was written around 727 in 53 chapters. The sources are, in addition to the first six books of Gregory of Tours ( to 584 AD), especially oral traditions as well as possibly epic traditions and lost texts. The so-called Fredegar Chronicle was not known to the author.

The author's name is not known. The research is, however, generally assume that he must have had closer ties with Paris or Laon, because he wrote primarily about the Neustrian area.
