Liberdade (district of São Paulo)

Liberdade is one of 96 districts of São Paulo and managed sub-prefecture Sé. It was formed in the 1950s after the establishment of the district of the same name.

He is one of the main attractions of the town, and a most important residence of the Japanese community in Brazil. The name Liberdade was created after the abolition of slavery in Brazil in 1888. It has an estimated population of 57 860 inhabitants ( 2010).

Liberdade is the world's largest Japanese community outside Japan.
