The Liberty Township is one of 10 townships in Cape Girardeau County in the southeast of the U.S. state of Missouri.

Geography

The Liberty Township is located approximately 35 km west of the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Illinois. The mouth of the Ohio at Cairo at the interface of the states of Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky is located around 90 km south-east.

The Liberty Township is located at 37 ° 15'47 " north latitude and 89 ° 50'20 " west longitude and extending over 66.26 km ², spread over 65.63 km ² land and 0.63 km ² water surface.

The eastern boundary of the Liberty Township is formed from the Whitewater River, which flows at Whitewater in the east adjacent Hubble Township in the Headwater Diversion Channel. This also forms the southern boundary of the Township. In the center of the township is the Lake Girardeau Conservation Area, a 139 -acre recreation area.

The Liberty Township borders within the Cape Girardeau County in the north to the children of the township, on the east by the Hubble Township, and on the south by the Welch Township. In the West, the Township is adjacent to the Bollinger County.

Traffic

Through the Township runs no highway. There are some fortified County Roads and a number of unpaved roadways.

The nearest airport is around 35 km east of the township located in Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.

Population

In the census of 2010, the Township had 439 inhabitants. In addition to scattered settlements exist near the Lake Girardeau the unincorporated settlement Crump.
