Library of Congress Police

The Library of Congress Police (German police the Library of Congress ) was founded in 1950, U.S. police authorities of the Confederation, for the safety of employees, visitors and the collection of the Library of Congress (English Library of Congress) in Washington, DC was responsible. The LOC Police led by, among others, video surveillance, identity checks and patrols especially at the site of the Library of Congress. Although they had rather the functions of a guard or security service, but was a full police authority with all the associated rights.

Merger with the United States Capitol Police

2003, the U.S. Congress has decided to close the Library of Congress Police and in the United States Capitol Police ( USCP ) to integrate. All employees of the LOC Police have been adopted by law by the USCP. The integration was officially completed on 30 September 2009.
