libusb

Libusb is a program written in C library for reading and writing to USB devices. Here comes libusb under Linux without its own kernel modules. libusb is currently available for Linux, BSD, and Mac OS X. There also exists a port to Windows systems. The library is corroborated by SANE, the Scanner Linux project used.
