Licciana Nardi

Licciana Nardi is a town with 4894 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Massa -Carrara, Tuscany.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 40 km north of Pisa. It lies on the upper reaches of the river Magra.

The districts include Amola, Apella, Bastia, Cisigliana, Costamala, Monti, Panicale, Paretola, Pontebosio, Taponecco, Tavernelle, Terra Rossa, Varano and Villa,

The neighboring municipalities are Aulla, Bagnone, Comano, Fivizzano, Monchio delle Corti (PR ), Podenzana, Tresana and Villafranca in Lunigiana.

History

In the village there is an old castle, which is privately owned. Nearby there is a marble statue of the Italian freedom fighter Anacarsi Nardi (1799-1844), who was born in Apella Licciana. In it the current name suffix of the community goes back.
