Licenza

Licenza is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 1031 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 54 km northeast of Rome and 22 km north-east of Tivoli.

Geography

Licenza lies in the Lucretili. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Valle Aniene. The district Civitella below, the highest with 1,368 m summit of the mountain of Monte Pellecchia, is already part of the Natural Park of Monti Lucretili. At Monte Pellecchia there is one of the last nesting golden eagles.

Licenza is on the state road SS 314 Licinese to the A24 Autostrada dei Parchi from Rome to Teramo, driveway Mandela Vicovaro connected.

Giuseppe Rinaldi was elected in May 2006 to the mayor.

Attractions

  • The town is dominated by the Palazzo Baronale from the 12th century. Its present form was completed in the 17th century by Roberto Orsini
  • In the valley below Licenza the Villa of Horace was excavated. The findings are seen mostly in the Museo Civico in the Palazzo Oraziano Baronale.
