The castle ruins Lichnice located on the edge of the Iron Hill in the village belonging to Třemošnice podhradí, about 15 kilometers east of Čáslav. Its original name was Lichtenberg Castle (Czech: Lichtenburk, also: Lichtemburk ).

History

The Lichtenburg castle was probably built as a royal foundation in the first half of the 13th century. The first mention of it was in 1261, when she was in possession of the Smil of Ronow who called himself the first of Lichtenburg and thus founded the branch of the family of light burger.

The castle had a triangular floor plan with two residential towers. In the 14th century made ​​alterations to the castle, which in turn royal estate was completed in 1410. In the Hussite Wars, it was conquered in 1421 and 1428 besieged again. 1490 acquired the Trček of Lipa, the castle and manor Lichtenburg and had rebuilt the castle in the late Gothic style. Having lost its importance since the second half of the 16th century, the fortifications were razed in the 17th century. 1700 has already been referred to as a ruin.
