Lidia Zielińska

Lidia Zielińska ( born October 9, 1953 in Poznań ) is a Polish composer.

Zielińska studied until 1979 composition at the Staatliche Musikhochschule their city with Andrzej Koszewski. Then worked as a violinist of the Poznań Philharmonic and the Chamber Orchestra Agnieszka Duczmal. She also collaborated with artists in the field of sculpture, theater and experimental film like Jan Berdyszak, Ted Brandsen, Izabella Gustowska, Aleksandra Korejwo, Wojciech Müller, Lech Raczaki, Roland Topor and Ewa Wycichowska. For her compositions, she has received numerous awards, including the second prize in the composition competition of Musical Youths International in Belgrade in 1979, the first prize at the International Composition Competition in Mannheim in 1980 and the prize at the International Competition of Electroacoustic Music in Bourges in 1997.

In the 1993-94 season, she joined the Euro Music Theater Project, which culminated in the production of the play time loops in Stuttgart. The following season, she was involved in the Danube Ballet Projekr from which the premier of venture Unknown at the Holland Dance Festival emerged. 1995-96 Zielinska was Composer in Residence at the Studio for Electronic Music in Stockholm.

From 1982 to 1992 she was director of the music festival Poznan Spring, between 1989 and 1992 and between 1996 and 2005 Member of the program committee of the Festival for New Music Warsaw Autumn. Multiple they also held functions in the Polish Composers' Union and the International Society for Contemporary Music of the Polish section. She is a professor of composition at the Music Academies of Poznan and Wrocław, summer courses are among others in France, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden and Belarus and workshops for children, actor and filmmaker.
