Lidköping Municipality

Lidköping is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County and the historic province of Västergötland on the lake Vänern.

Capital is the city of Lidköping. Other towns are Filsbäck, Järpås, Resville, Saleby, spiking, action, Vinninga, Örslösa and other smaller villages.

Geography

The town lies at the mouth of Lidköping Lidan in Lake Vänern. To the west, the peninsula extends Kalland with the island Kållandsö and the offshore archipelago about 25 kilometers to the Vänern. On Kållandsö is the baroque castle Läckö, once the seat of the Counts De la Gardie.

On the western boundary of the municipality, 20 km from Lidköping, is the place Såtenäs where the Skaraborgs Air Division is stationed.

From Lidköping, the municipal area stretches along the river Lidan about 20 kilometers into the interior.

Economy

The main town of Lidköping is a major port and industrial city, and at the same time an administrative center. Tourism is on Kalland and Kållandsö important.
