Liem Swie King

Liem Swieten King (Chinese:林 水镜; Lín Shuǐjìng; born February 28, 1956 in Kudus as Ng Swieten King) is a former Indonesian badminton player from PB Djarum. He was one of the most important players in this sport in the late 1970s and the 1980s. He belongs to the Chinese minority in Indonesia.

Career

In 1974, he first drew attention to himself when he won the bronze medal at the Asian Games. Two years later he was at the All England in the final, where they lost against Rudy Hartono. In 1977, he lost the finals again, this time against Flemming Delfs. In the following season, managed King at last to the very top, when he won the final against Rudy Hartono. In 1979, he returned the favor with Flemming Delfs in the final for the '77 defeat, defending his title from last year. In 1980 he was defeated Prakash Padukone in the final, but in 1981 turned the tables around and became the third -time All- England champion. In 1984, he made ​​it again in the final, this time against Morten Frost of Denmark. However, King lost in three sets.
