Lietava

Lietava (Hungarian Zsolnalitva - Ljetava to 1902 ) is a Slovak parish in the district Žilina.

Geography

The place is located in the southwest of Žilina boiler ( Žilinská kotlina ), about 12 kilometers from Zilina.

History

Based on archaeological finds is proved that the area was inhabited in the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age.

An independent municipality was established in 1208, it belonged to the reign Lietava. After 1332, this is known as Provincia de Lytva.

Attractions

In the village there is a Gothic church from the 15th century, the interior dates from the 18th century. On the territory of the municipality lies the castle Lietava.
