Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor (Lieutenant Governor ) was introduced in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, with the adoption of the Constitution in 1780. Previously there had been in the colonial province of Massachusetts Bay the post of Lieutenant-Governor as deputy of the governor. Under the Constitution, the vice-governor moves to the governorship, if the holder dies this item, resigns or is removed from office by the Office. However, he not considered the official governor as in almost all other states, but merely as Acting Governor.

Since the current incumbent Tim Murray resigned in June 2013, the Office is currently vacant.
