Life of a Thoroughbred

Life of a Thoroughbred is an American short film by Tom Cummiskey from the year 1941.

Action

The short film follows the life of a race horse. As a newborn foal, it will first try the simplest of things: To get up and drink. Later on, a halter him for the first time created and it must with the mother to pasture. The coach appears and observed foal and mother. In the next time the foal is weaned from the mother, so it is left alone in the stable, while the mare is left to the other horses in the pasture.

After the colt is weaned, it is left with other colts in the pasture. Later, it is used to the saddle and first ridden in the barn and later outside the barn and on the racecourse. This is followed by scenes of horse transport by train from the station in Lexington to the race track. Life of a Thoroughbred was on Warren Wright's Calumet Farm racing horse farm in Lexington, Kentucky, rotated. Warren Wright and his wife Lucille Parker Wright kicking yourself in the movie in appearance. The film was released on 7 November 1941 as part of the short film series Sports Review.

Awards

Life of a Thoroughbred in 1942 was nominated for an Oscar in the category "Best Short Documentary ", but could not prevail against Churchill 's Iceland itself.
