Life of an American Fireman is an American short film from 1903. Was directed by George S. Fleming and Edwin S. Porter. The film is a tribute to the work of the fire department. The film was released in January of 1903. The film is one of the oldest American films with a continuous action.

Action

The film opens with a dream sequence in which a firefighter dreams of his family. A little later someone triggers the alarm and firefighters all firefighters emerge from their night's sleep. They race with their carriages and fire engines to the burning house.

There they try to clear the house from the outside. One of the firemen ran into the burning house and rescues a woman and her daughter's life. In the next scene is to see how the fire another woman with a ladder rescues. Finally, the firemen got the flames under control.
