Liga II

Liga II is the second highest division in the Romanian football. It was founded in 1934 and carried up to and including the 2005/06 season the name Divizia B. An exception were the seasons 1992/93 to 1996/97, in which the league Divizia A said.

The League II was in the seasons 2006 /07 to 2009/ 10 in two seasons - Seria I and Seria II - split with 18 teams, from which initially the respective first and second place in the league one on and the four last placed descended into the League III. In the seasons 2009 /10 and 2010/11 there were only 16 teams in each of which, subject to the licensing procedure, three should descend. In the seasons 2011/12 and 2012/13 the number of losers is increased to five teams per season in order to gradually reduce to four with a total of only six climbers from the League III the total number of second division to 28 or 24 teams.

The season with the most participating teams was the season 1947/48 (64 teams), while in the three seasons 1950, 1951 and 1952 took part in each case only 24 clubs.
