Liga III

League III is the third- highest division in the Romanian football. It was founded in 1936 and was up to and including the 2005/06 season the name Divizia C. An exception was the seasons 1992/93 to 1996/97, in which the league Divizia B said. The winners of the different seasons promoted to the Liga II, each of which last placed descend into the League IV.

By 1963, the competition was held at irregular intervals. After the first two seasons 1936/37 and 1937/38, the game operation Divizia C was established and recorded for a season until 1946/47, again. After a year break, a fresh start was 1948/49, taken, but this was canceled after the first round. The fourth edition of Divizia C took place in 1956, which was followed by two seasons in 1957/58 and 1958/59. After another four -year break, it was not until 1963/64, to the next season, since the Divizia C will now be held annually.
