Light verb

A Funktionsverb is a verb that has a very general meaning and is part of a Funktionsverbgefüges. Examples are verbs such as " bring, come, make " " about to perform " in phrases such as, " get underway ", " make a sentence". Verbs contribute little to the meaning of Funktionsverbgefüges; their main function is seen in the fact that they bring in the personal ending of verbs and thus their grammatical functions in the sentence.
