Lighthouse Family
Lighthouse Family is a British musical duo, which was active from the mid 1990s until the early 2000s and from 2010. The British-born singer Tunde Baiyewu and the London Keyboard musician Paul Tucker formed the group in 1993 in Newcastle upon Tyne after meeting while studying at university. Due to the good sales of their debut album Ocean Drive from the year 1995 the band to popular representatives of easy listening throughout Europe. They are best known for their songs Lifted, Ocean Drive, Rain Cloud and High.
History
Both Baiyewu and Tucker were working in bars, when they met for the first time. Together they recorded a series of demos Tucker in the late 1980s written songs. Among them pulled out a demo of " Ocean Drive " to the attention of Polydor Records A & R director Colin Barlow to be communicating with the Group signed an agreement to a six- month development phase in 1993.
In the wake of the economic recession in the UK were at this time in the UK record companies especially on short-term success interested artists under contract. In contrast, Barlow expected that the success of the group would last "10 years or more." At the start of the first album Polydor invested ₤ 250,000 in the band. The music video could now be rotated abroad in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
The first single " Lifted " was broadcast on BBC Radio One, and a number of BBC Local radio stations. The Chart Show revealed the accompanying music video. Nevertheless, this has not led to considerable single or album sales during 1995; only after " Lifted " was re-released in 1996, the song reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart. Ocean Drive, got to the end of 1997 six times platinum, there remained a total of 154 weeks on the UK singles chart.
Lighthouse Family made their appearances in the spring of 2003 as a result of many promotional appearances after the release of Whatever Gets You Through the Day in 2001. This has led to individual projects both members. Baiyewu was a solo artist, while Tucker, the rock band The Orange Lights joined.
Comeback
In November 2010, the duo announced a return of the Lighthouse Family and planned a UK & Ireland tour in February and March 2011. It was the first performance of Lighthouse Family for eight years. In an interview with the morning shows BBC Breakfast on January 17, 2011 Lighthouse Family announces that they have not spoken to each other even after the first resolution. In addition, there is no current defined schedule for the release of a new album. However, Tucker mentioned during the interview that the duo " pockets ... full of songs " would.
