Lighting designer

The lighting designer ( english: Lighting Designer) has worked at the theater and opera stage or in architecture.

A lighting designer or lighting designer should not be confused with an electrician or lighting designer. The latter have a rather ' craft ' background. In the U.S. and England have been around since the 60s, professional lighting designer. There and more recently in continental Europe, a study of lighting design is possible. In Germany, the artistic and technical profession of lighting designer prevailed until relatively late and reluctantly.

Today, the lighting design or lighting design is a recognized part of a production. The creative use of lighting technology supports the artistic statement of intention director and author.

The Hochschule Wismar offers in the department of architecture at a master's degree. The Brandi Institute for Light and Design in Hamburg offers an internationally oriented, in-service training for lighting designers. The program is designed as an additional qualification for architects, engineers and interior and landscape architects.
