Liisa Jaakonsaari

Liisa Anneli Jaakonsaari ( born September 2, 1945 in Oulu) is a Finnish politician of the Social Democratic Party of Finland.

Life

Jaakonsaari was from 1972 to 1995 in the City Council of Oulu. From 1979 to 2009 she was a Member of the Finnish Parliament. In the first Cabinet of Paavo Lipponen it was from 1995 to 1999 Minister of Labour. In 2009 she was elected to the European Parliament.

Jaakonsaari is in the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats

She is Vice-Chair of the Delegation for relations with the Pan-African Parliament.

It is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Delegation to the EU -Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee. Alternate member of the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs and the Delegation for relations with South Africa.
