Liisa Savijarvi

Liisa Savijarvi ( born December 29, 1963 in Bracebridge, Ontario ) is a former Canadian alpine skier.

Biography

Your first peak results achieved Savijarvi in the 1983/84 season when they reached a 3rd place in the giant slalom and a 4th place in the Alpine Combined Megeve.

As a specialist in the speed disciplines Liisa Savijarvi then celebrated in 1986 with the start number 34 in the Super -G of Furano (JAP ) their first (and only) World Cup win. Already in the departure of Bad Gastein weeks earlier, she had to just under the Austrian Katharina Good Son beaten. End of the 1985/86 season she was second in the super- G World Cup and fifth in the downhill World Cup.

At the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo Savijarvi drove in the giant slalom at the 9th place in the Alpine World Ski Championships 1985 in Santa Caterina, she was in the giant slalom decades.

A serious knee injury in 1987 forced her to resign. Liisa Savijarvi whose parents originate from Finland, won three Canadian Champion title ( giant slalom 1983 slalom 1983, departure 1987). She now lives in Toronto.
