Lilly Reich

Lilly Reich ( born June 16, 1885 in Berlin, † December 14, 1947 ibid ) was a German designer of modernity. She worked from 1926 for ten years closely with Ludwig Mies van der Rohe together, including the Barcelona Pavilion and the Villa Tugendhat. The German Werkbund she became the first woman on its board of directors. In 1932 she became head of the development workshop of the Bauhaus.

Life

Reich was trained as a Kurbelstickerin and then worked from 1908 in the Wiener Werkstätte. Three years later, she returned to Berlin and deals with the design and the design of furniture and fashion pieces. 1912 Empire Member of the German Werkbund and enters 1920 in its board. Due to their successes kingdom was made head of the German contribution in the 1929 World Exposition in Barcelona. In the early 1930s gets a job at the Bauhaus Empire until its closure in 1933. Prior to her death in 1947 she had become working for Fine Arts in Berlin two years for the university.
