Liloan (Cebu)

Liloan is a metropolitan area municipality in the province of Cebu, on the island of Cebu, in the Philippines. It has 100,500 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 14 barangays. It belongs to the first class of income communities in the Philippines and is described as Urban.

The name of the municipality of Liloan is due to a natural phenomenon. Domestically, the community is a shallow lake scenery. With the onset of high tide the water through small channels in the lakes penetrates and thus ensures a water exchange in the shallow lagoons. With receding water during low tide, most of the water remains in the shallow waters and the channels run dry. This process is called in Cebuano Lilo and can be observed in the silot Bay.
