Lily Tomlin

Lily Tomlin ( born September 1, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American actress, writer and producer.

Career

Lily Tomlin is the daughter of a factory worker. She has a younger brother named Richard, who was born in 1943. Tomlin studied medicine at Wayne State University, but soon discovered her interest in acting and made her first stage experience as a stand-up comedian. In 1966 she worked as a secretary for a casting director in television and came in this way to her first television appearance as an entertainer in the Gary Moore Show. With its embodiment of the telephone operator Ernestine in the television series Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In Tomlin became known in 1969 across the U.S..
